Rhett Turned 5!

Our sweet little Rhett turned 5 on July 8th. We celebrated it, as usual, on the 4th so he thinks his parties are always great firework diplays and outdoor fun. This year we had his party combined with his best friend, Gordon, who's birthday is the week before his so it worked out quite nicely. We got together for swimming and a BBQ. Then the boys had star birthday cakes with sparklers in them. That got a great reaction. After more swimming we had a fabulous back yard firework display to an array of patriotic music from "Stars and Stripes" to Jimmy Hendrix's version of The Star Spangled Banner. It was a perfect birthday party. Later when asked what his favorite part was Rhett said, "The fireworks of course!" Throughout the year when we pass an American Flag, Rhett always says, "Look! It's my birthday flag!" One day we'll have to fix the myth but for now, we'll let him believe!
He's now getting ready to go to Kindergarten and is super excited to ride the bus with Rock. I can't believe I'll have two kids in elementary school this next year. Poor Drake will be so sad! He loves his brothers so much even though he torments them horribly! We have two more birthdays coming up in the next 4 weeks so you'll be hearing more about our aging kids soon.

Gordy will tell you that the best part about their b-days was the fireworks too!!! We could have just started with them and been done! :-)
That was a great party. I had fun getting to know your family better and eating tons of naughty food!
